Earth Day - This Is The Time

Oggi è la Giornata della Terra, il giorno in cui si festeggia l’ambiente e la salvaguardia del pianeta Terra. Questa festa si celebra ogni anno, un mese e due giorni dopo l’equinozio di primavera.
Nata negli anni '70,  la Giornata della Terra è divenuta nel tempo un avvenimento educativo ed informativo. Questa è un'occasione per valutare le problematiche del pianeta: l’inquinamento di aria, acqua e suolo, la distruzione degli ecosistemi, le migliaia di piante e specie animali che scompaiono, l’esaurimento delle risorse non rinnovabili. Ci sono tante soluzioni a questi problemi: riciclaggio dei rifiuti, divieto di utilizzare prodotti chimici dannosi, creazione di aree protette per salvaguardare foreste e specie in via d'estinzione. Si tratta, però, di soluzioni raramente messe in atto: l'avidità e l'egoismo, purtroppo, sono caratteristiche tipiche degli esseri umani.
Personalmente, ritengo che lo sviluppo sostenibile sia impossibile. Il motivo? Le risorse del nostro pianeta non sono infinite, la crescita teoricamente lo è. E non ha molto senso imporre un sistema di crescita lineare in un pianeta basato su un sistema circolare. Proprio per questo sono moderatamente favorevole alla decrescita.
